International and wide-ranging repertoire

Recent programmes have ranged from JS Bach, to Ole Gjeilo, to Billy Joel.

Dominic Brennan, our experienced conductor sets exacting yet achievable standards, which he delivers with his special blend of energy, humour and musicality.

Professional partnerships

We aim to perform at least one concert each year with a professional orchestra, and sometimes join with other choirs to perform larger scale works. Recent highlights have included Brahms’s German Requiem (with The Cantus Ensemble), a joint summer concert with The Camden Choir, and JS Bach’s Magnificat with full orchestra.

Weekly rehearsals

We meet weekly on a Wednesday 7.30-9.30pm in the beautiful St John’s Church, Church Row, Hampstead, NW3 6UU, where we prepare for four concerts a year, including a Carol concert.  The church is close to Hampstead Underground (Northern Line) and several local pubs for those who like to socialise afterwards.

ABOUT US

Hampstead Chamber Choir is a small, friendly, auditioned choir.  We perform four concerts a year and rehearse on Wednesday evenings in term-time in Hampstead, NW3.

Musical Director

Dominic Brennan

Dominic Brennan is approaching his tenth anniversary as our Musical Director. He holds a BA and MA in music from Durham University, where he studied percussion and furthered his interest in conducting by directing many local ensembles.

Whilst leading us, he has overseen the implementation of a choral scholarship programme and forays into a wide range of repertoire, placing HCC among the best choirs in North London. Dominic also conducts the Cantus Ensemble, the choir that he founded in 2011 and one of London’s finest emerging ensembles.

When not holding a score, Dominic can be found with a glass of wine in hand as a member of the Fine Wine trade and founder of Clos Fine Wine.
